Liam Brennan sweeps K of C 2008 state basketball free throw title
On April 26 in Sayreville, St. Elizabeth’s student and parishioner Liam Brennan won the state championship in the 10-year-old boys division of the Knights of Columbus Free Throw competition, defeating the other diocesan champions from New Jersey.  Congratulations to Liam on this impressive accomplishment.

The St. Elizabeth’s Knights of Columbus council is proud to announce that Liam Brennan won the diocesan championship among 10-year-old boys on March 29.  Liam represented the parish along with 3 other St. Elizabeth’s district champions – Jimmy McDonough, Lisa Sesink-Clee and Natalie Carpentieri.   Congratulations to Liam and the other St. Elizabeth’s district champions.

Liam will now move on to the state championship on April 26 in Sayreville.

Dear Brother Knights,

We had 4 district champions competing with the best in the Newark Archdiocese in yesterday’s regional championships in Hillsdale.

Each of our champions – Jimmy McDonough (11 year old boys), Liam Brennan (10 year old boys), Lisa Sesink-Clee (12 year old girls) and Natalie Carpentieri (14 year old girls) - did very well.

Liam (son of knight Jim Brennan) took home the regional championship among the 10-year-old boys, and will now compete with the other diocesan champs in the state competition on April 26 in Sayreville.

After making 23 out of 25 in the district finals, Liam made 21 of 25 in this round.  Lisa finished in 3rd place, making 18 out of 25 free throws – just behind two girls who made 19 apiece.

Congratulations to Liam and the other St. Elizabeth’s district champions.  We are proud of their achievements and wish Liam the best in the state championship.

Vivat Jesu,
 Larry

            Jimmy McDonough

Stephen Prendergast also represented us well having lost on the tie-breaker round.

Thank you in particular to Jim Brennan for representing our council at St. Luke’s.

Congratulations to everyone, and thank you for the Knights who came out to help run the event – especially Jerry Colby who handled most of the set-up with his son Ryan.
The district competition will take place Feb. 24th at St. Luke’s.
